Raph Koster announced his new company, Areae, in December of last year in a brief post on his blog. Since then, he has given several interviews regarding the company, but has been (understandably) secretive of the big project they’ve had in the works, other than saying that it merges the MMOGs of the game industry with the Web 2.0 of the web world.
Finally, the company is ready to spill the beans. At 4 p.m. PDT on Sept 18, the metaplace website will officially launch. So, now we know the name of the project, metaplace, and there are some cutesy graphics on the home page. Come 4 p.m. PDT, we’ll learn what the Raph and co. have cooked up. I’m looking forward to it, to be sure.
