A couple of years ago, Jacob Olsen of Oddlabs released a paper titled Realtime Procedural Terrain Generation, detailing the technique used in the game Tribal Trouble. Now, Oddlabs has decided to take their procedural terrain and texture code and release it under the GPL. Read more about it over at the Oddlabs blog.
