Indie game developers constantly debate the issue of piracy prevention. Search for ‘piracy’ in the indiegamer.org forums and you’ll find several threads espousing different views. The developer of the indie game Lux has taken an interesting approach. On his website he has a page designed to show up when would-be pirates search for cracks to his game. The page has a few paragraphs that attempt to convince the knucklehead to buy his game instead of pirating it. In a recent indiegamer thread, he said that some hits to the page have turned into direct sales. This is an anti-piracy approach I can get on board with and something you might consider when selling your own games.
